Why Get Involved

Napa’s short-term rental landscape is changing. Don’t let your property rights be decided without you. Join the NVVRC to ensure a fair, sustainable future for responsible hosting in the Valley.

The County prohibits STR in residential zones. The City of Napa has currently paused all new permit applications and reached its strictly enforced caps of just 101 total vacation rentals. Without a seat at the table, local homeowners risk being "regulated out" of their own neighborhoods.

  • Working with the city to establish sensible, data-driven caps that don’t leave hundreds of responsible homeowners on a permanent waitlist.

  • Ensuring that when the City Council discusses Ordinance 17.52.515, they hear from the families and individuals who rely on rental income—not just industry opponents.

  • Pushing for clear, digital-first registration and inspection processes that respect your time and privacy.

  • Receive "Alert Levels" when the City of Napa or Napa County schedules hearings or proposes changes to STR zoning and tax (TOT) rates.

  • Individual voices are easily ignored; a coalition of hundreds of voters and taxpayers is a political force.

  • Access to our community of "Good Neighbor" hosts. We share resources on noise monitoring, local contact requirements, and inspections etc.

    Community-First Decision Making

We're working to bring the City and County of Napa, its residents, workers, businesses, and community voices together with sustainable long-term solutions. Critics claim STRs hurt housing, but the data shows we are actually the solution. The taxes generated by our properties provide the literal "bricks and mortar" for Napa's affordable housing projects. We advocate for a "Yes/And" approach: Yes to STRs, and Yes to using that revenue to build housing for our workforce.

    Responsible Tourism

We believe in responsible hosting: maintaining safety standards, paying taxes, respecting neighborhoods, and keeping our homes well-managed. We advocate for regulations that ensure fairness and sustainability, protecting the interests of homeowners and the community alike. The next generation of travelers doesn't want a standard hotel room; they want a home. If Napa doesn't offer diverse accommodations, these high-spending visitors will take their $281-per-day spending to other regions.

    Economic Empowerment

Visitor spending has hit a record $2.5 billion, supporting 16,000 local jobs. We strive to protect the rights of homeowners to responsibly share their properties while contributing meaningfully to the local economy. By joining the Coalition, you are supporting the 1 in 5 Napa workers whose jobs depend on a thriving, diverse tourism economy.

    Community Contributions

Transient Occupancy Taxes can fund essential services, parks, and safety, improving community quality of life. This investment creates a safe and welcoming environment for residents and guests. Economic opportunity benefits the entire community.  We advocate for using this "painless tax" to keep our neighborhoods beautiful without raising local taxes.

MISSION

Our goal is to build a collaborative community movement that creates a balanced, responsible, and sustainable housing policy in Napa Valley, CA.  Concurrently, we aim to promote resources for homeowners, and driving revenue to businesses and the community.
